Wasenhaus Kanzel Spätburgunder Landwein 2024 Red Wine
Wasenhaus Spätburgunder Vulkan 2024 is a red wine made by Wasenhaus in Baden, Germany, specifically in the Kaiserstuhl area.
It is a single-variety Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) sourced from different parcels at higher elevations in the Kaiserstuh6
The grapes are hand-harvested and mostly destemmed, with around 40% whole clusters. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in open-top vats for around 18 days.
The wine is then aged for 15 months in used French oak barrels from different vintages, aiming to preserve its freshness, structure and expression of the volcanic soils. It is a fresh and deep Pinot Noir, with red fruit, spice and subtle smoky notes, supported by fine tannins and pronounced mineral tension.
