Mai & Kenji Hodgson Les Noëls de Montbenault 2023 White Wine
Mai & Kenji Hodgson Les Noëls de Montbenault White 2023 is a white wine produced by Mai & Kenji Hodgson in Anjou-Saumur, Bellevigne-en-Layon, in the Loire Valley.
It is a single-varietal Chenin Blanc grown on clay-sandy soils over schist. The 50-year-old vines are planted on a terraced hillside, while the 30-year-old vines are located on the lower slope, sheltered by surrounding forests and influenced by a ravine that flows into the Layon River.
The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in small French oak barrels (20% new) and foudres.
Ageing takes place in these same vessels on its own lees, unfiltered, and without the addition of sulphites.
