Clos Rougeard Les Poyeux Red 2020 is a red wine from the Saumur-Champigny appellation in France’s Loire Valley, produced by Clos Rougeard.
It is a single-varietal Cabernet Franc made from well-balanced vines that express a more delicate and floral style within the estate’s range.
The wine comes from a small 3-hectare parcel located in front of the winery, planted on clay and wind-blown sandy soils with a limestone tuffeau subsoil, which brings freshness and tension to the wine’s profile.
Aging takes place over many months in used oak barrels, followed by extended maturation in the estate’s tuffeau cellars.
The 2020 vintage in the Loire is marked by ripeness, freshness, and balance, resulting in a precise, elegant wine with strong ageing potential.
