Gustinella Vino di Confine Red 2023 is a natural red wine made by Sonia Gambino in Maletto, on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Sicily, Italy. It represents the area's winemaking tradition, with vineyards located at approximately 1,100 metres above sea level.
It is a field blend of Grenache (40%), Grecanico Dorato (30%), Nerello Mascalese (20%), Alicante Bouschet (5%) and Minella Bianca (5%), sourced from a small vineyard of century-old vines trained using the traditional alberello etneo system.
Fermentation is spontaneous, with indigenous yeasts, and the white and red grape varieties ferment together. The wine is aged for around 10 months in concrete tanks and glass demijohns, followed by a period of bottle ageing.
