Viña Somoza Via XVIII 2023 Red Wine
Viña Somoza Via XVIII 2023 Red Wine is a red wine produced by Viña Somoza in the town of A Rúa, in Valdeorras.
The wine is a blend of Mencía, Garnacha, and Mouratón from vineyards planted on different soil types—clay, black and red slate, and alluvial soils—located at 500 meters above sea level. The name of the wine pays tribute to an ancient Roman road that connected Braga with Astorga.
Part of the harvest is destemmed, while the rest is processed with whole clusters, fermenting spontaneously in French oak barrels. Finally, Viña Somoza Vía XVIII rests on its lees for 11 months, without any movement or bâtonnage.
