José Antonio García Godello Viñas Viejas Blanco 2024 is a white wine produced by José Antonio García in Valtuille de Abajo, within the Bierzo D.O., Spain

The wine is a 100% Godello sourced from old vineyards planted between the 1920s and 1940s on predominantly clay soils with the presence of sand and gravel

The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Most of the wine is fermented and aged in used French oak barrels, while a small portion remains in stainless steel tanks. During ageing, the barrels are not topped up, allowing for a gentle oxidative evolution and, in certain vintages, the development of a natural flor veil on the wine’s surface. This ageing method enhances complexity, texture and savoury character while preserving the wine’s freshness
