Pedro Méndez Aturuxo 2020 Red Wine
Pedro Méndez Aturuxo Tinto 2020 is a red winemade by winemaker Pedro Méndez in the heart of the Val do Salnés in Galicia, a region traditionally associated with Albariño, but where old vineyards of native red varieties like Caíño Tinto still survive. On decomposed granite soils, under the constant influence of the Atlantic, the vines struggle, survive, and deliver grapes that are pure essence.
A young winemaker committed to the area (he recovers abandoned vineyards, native varieties, and works the vines following minimal-intervention principles).
The wine ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by 10 months of aging in French oak barrels, and then rests for two months in stainless steel tanks after racking. Production is very limited.
