Simon Batardière Montbenault 2023 White Wine
Simon Batardière Montbenault White 2023 is a white wine produced by Simon and Lénaïg Batardière in Bellevigne-en-Layon, Anjou-Saumur (Loire Valley), France.
The wine is made exclusively from Chenin Blanc, sourced from an 80-year-old massal selection of vines planted in the historic Montbenault vineyard. The soils consist of schist with spilite and rhyolite, covered by a thin layer of clay-loam. The grapes come from two small parcels: Pièce de la Douve and Grande Pièce.
The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo direct pressing. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in 225-litre French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for 15 months, partly in 225-litre French oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks
